The Tournament Rules:
Generally accepted wallyball rules will prevail in the Call of the Wall wallyball tournament. |
You can review the rules at the RULES link on our home page. A hard copy of the rules will be available at the results table on the day of the tournament. |
Please be aware of the following: |
* Spin serves/hits are permitted. |
* We are a co-ed tournament. You must have at least one girl on your team, and a girl must make contact on any multiple-hit volleys. Violation of this rule surrenders a point or serve. |
| * There will be no referees. Please be fair and honest. If any conflicts are irresolvable, please replay the volley. |
| * The OCS wallyball tournament will have two champions: The Elite Eight champions and The Best-of-the-Rest champions. These championships hold no value other than “bragging rights”. |
The Brackets:

The Format:
~ THE PRELIMINARY ROUND ~ |
| There will be three groups of five teams competing for seeding position based upon “rank points". Rank points are defined as: 50 points for a win (+) points scored (-) points given up. |
| Each group will have their own court assigned to them, and will be expected to follow their posted schedule as closely as possible. |
| Each team will play every team in their group exactly one time. Each game is played by side-out rules. Each game will be played to 15 and 15 ends the game (you do not have to win by 2 points). |
| Each team is responsible for posting their score at the results table. Your team will be ranked following the preliminary round based on total rank points. Rank points will be unique only to the preliminary round. |
There will be a court coordinator assigned to each group (for only the preliminary round) to answer questions regarding the tournament and to assure things are running efficiently. The court coordinator is not a referee, and will not resolve issues of conflict-that is the responsibility of the competing teams. Please afford him/her the proper amount of respect. |
~ROUND ONE~ |
All rounds following the preliminary round will be played by side-out rules. Each game will be played to 15 points; the winner must win by 2. You are now playing for wins, not rank points. Seeds 1-8 will play in the “Elite Eight” division. Seeds 9-15 will play in the “Best-of-the-Rest” division. |
THE ELITE EIGHT: The winners of round one move on to round two of the Elite Eight division. The losers of round one move on to compete in round two of the Best-of-the-Rest division. |
THE BEST-OF-THE-REST: Seed # 9 receives a bye (automatically moves on to round 2). Seeds 10-15 play for advancement to round 2. The winners advance, the losers are eliminated from the tournament. Advancing to round two will be the 9th seed, the four losing teams from round one of the Elite Eight division, and the three winners from round one of the Best-of-the-rest division. |
~ROUNDS TWO THRU CHAMPIONSHIP~ |
All rounds from this point to the championships are played by side-out rules. Each game will be played to 15 points; the winner must win by 2. Losers are eliminated from the tournament. |
